It is time to delve into the historic treasure of Chhattisgarh’s most ancient town. Malhar’s antique charm and mesmerizing sculptures create an ambience that can never be forgotten.. This town is in the list of “Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains of National Importance” maintained by Archaeological Survey of India.
In Malhar, remains were found of the period from 1000 BC Appx to Kalchuri regime. The temples of 10th and 11th centuries are seen here. Many ancient temples have been found, such as places like Pataleshwar temple, Devri temple & Dindeshwari temple. The ancient deposits and Jain religion memorials are also found here.
Chhattisgarh was the region known as Dakshin Koshal, which finds mention in both the Ramayana and Mahabharata
